Merry Meet.

Where do I start?

This is Aunt Marta. I didn’t come up with the name. My husband/business partner/co-conspirator calls himself Uncle Birch, so people naturally came to refer to me as Aunt Marta. I’ve always wanted nieces and nephews, so I let it stick.

Over the years, I’ve worn many hats. I’ve had careers that ranged from newspaper and online editing to acupuncture and Chinese herbalism.

But one thing that’s remained constant throughout my life is my thirst for all things occult.

Fast-forward to the present: I’ve experienced a few medical setbacks, so I’ve really had to slow down, but as far as I’m concerned, when one door closes another opens. That’s how I’ve always viewed life. You have to keep pushing forward and exploring new possibilities to stay ahead of the muck.

There will always be a big pool of muck patiently waiting for you to fail. The question is: What are you going to do about it?

This brings me to my interest in all things occult …

When we have the tools that can assist us with bending reality in accordance with our will, it empowers us. It enhances us. Hopefully, it won’t tempt us into nefarious pursuits fueled by self-interest, but that’s a whole other topic …

In my own life, I’ve been fortunate to attract a partner like Uncle Birch. We laugh a lot. He teaches me stuff. I teach him stuff. Sometimes we bicker. Sometimes we don’t speak for a while.

Almost always, we bring a different set of skills to the table: He’s motivated by what’s in his heart, while I’m motivated by what’s in my head. He is water and I am fire. He is the Moon. I am the Sun.

But it just works somehow. Maybe it’s because we have the same sense of humor and share a moral compass, or maybe it’s just witchcraft and it will all make sense someday.

After many years together, we realized that the progression of our lives had led us to formally join forces and launch a line of witchy products. And that’s how Unholy Blends was born.

In the past, I’ve played a role in helping Birch run his brick-and-mortar, and we’ve also performed handfastings together. But I’ve always had other irons in the fire and other sources of income based on unrelated personal goals.

Now I realize that I’ve had an open window right in front of me the entire time. The reality is that we have 80 years of experience between the two of us, but my desire to “do my own thing” had blinded me to golden opportunities.

But I’m here now.
